Betty Jane Cologna

Loving Wife And Mother

Betty Jane Baker Cologna, 78, of Trumbull, beloved wife of John D. Cologna, died, October 18, at Bridgeport Hospital, with her loving family by her side. Born in Chicago August 9, 1933, she was a daughter of Walter and Cecelia Hanelt Baker.

In addition to her devoted husband of 60 years, survivors include eight loving children and their spouses, Danial and Robyn Cologna, Linda Cavaliere, and Karen and Tim Echeverria, all of Newtown, Ann Sullivan of Meriden, Barbara G. and Walter Pietruk, Kathleen and Chris Day, Andrea and Michael Amalfitano, and John T. Cologna of Milford; 22 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister; and many nieces and nephews. Two brothers and a sister predeceased her.

She was a religious education teacher in Louisville, Ky., for many years before moving to Trumbull in 1974.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, October 22, at 8 am, in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 9 am, in St Theresa Church, Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call Friday, October 21, from 4 to 8 pm, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
