Womanâs Club To Raffle Quilt, Dolls
The Newtown Womanâs Club, GFWC, is holding a quilt and doll raffle. The winners will be drawn at the C.H. Booth Library at 11 am on November 3.
First prize is a handmade rooster quilt that was made for the nationâs bicentennial in 1976. Womanâs Club member Marion Thompson won the quilt nearly 30 years ago and decided to donate it this year to the Womanâs Club to raise money for the two projects: Newtown Underwater Search and Rescue (NUSAR), and the Rocky Hill Veterans Home. âAdopt A Wingâ at the veterans home is a project of the Connecticut Federation of Womanâs Clubs; NUSAR is a community improvement project of the local club.
Second prize is a Louis Nicole doll dressed in clothing made by Ginny Chiaramonte. Third prize is a pair of Raggedy Anne and Andy dolls made by Mary Antey and Nancy Larin. Fourth place is an ethnic doll dressed in clothing made by Ginny Warner.
Raffle tickets are $1 and only 1,500 will be sold. They are available from Womanâs Club members and at the circulation desk of the Booth Library. Ticket holders need not be present to win.
For additional information or tickets call Marion Thompson at 426-0253 or Barbara Krausz at 426-0738.
