Next SCAN Meeting
The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host Cal Martin demonstrating in watercolor on Wednesday, October 26, at 1:30 pm. The meeting is open to non-members, free of charge.
The event will be in the lower meeting room at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole).
Cal Martin returned recently to Connecticut from Beverly Hills, Fla. Mr Martin and his wife moved to Beverly Hills from Connecticut in 1998, having been a resident of Beacon Falls for many years.
His background in art includes studies at the Whitney School of Art in New Haven, and further painting, design and art history classes at Southern Connecticut State University.
Mr Martin has been awarded a number of awards for his work at art shows in Connecticut. In Florida he was voted âArtist of the Monthâ at the Citrus County Art League, Citrus Watercolor Club and the Beverly Hills Art Group, where he conducted workshops.
His compositions feature a crisp color style, and his teaching methods are designed to impart helpful watercolor techniques to both beginning and more advanced students. In addition to this demo SCAN will also host a one-day workshop by Mr Martin on Saturday, November 12.
Workshops run from 10 am to 4 pm and also start at the meeting house. Cost is $40 per person are also open to non-members.
