Boys U14
Newtown 3, Montville 1 (State Cup) â Adam Buccino, Danny Clement, and Collin Jacob each contributed a goal as Newtown slipped past Montville in State Cup action. Chris McCann, Matt Iassogna, and Casey Tenney controlled the midfield while Andy Lapple, Ben Miles, and Dan Greenwood. Zach Dlouhy played excellent in goal.
Newtown 5, Southbury 2 â Ben Mahony scored two goals while Ralph Sergiovanni, Danny Clement, and Kyle Kromberg each added goals to lead Newtown to the win. Adam Buccino also played well on offense with three assists. Eric Keogler, George Zaruba and Matt Baier had a great game in the midfield while defense was controlled by Ben Miles, Andy Lapple, and Dan Greenwood.

Boys U13
Avon 2, Strikers 1 (State Cup) â Daniel Lynch scored the lone Newtown goal in a State Cup shootout loss to Avon. Michael Renz and Thomas Capozziello kept the pressure on while Aaron Nezvesky and Ryan Pasko played well. Kyle Wildman had great saves in the goal.
Strikers 7, New Milford 1 â Sam Grainger notched a hat trick and Daniel Lynch scored a pair while Michael Gould and Kyle Moore added one apiece to lead the Strikersâ rout of New Milford. Two assists were provided by Daniel Hufziger while Lynch and Moore had one. Alex Miller and Tony Vacaro played well.
Girls U13
Newtown 2, Torrington 1 â KellyAnne Brophy and Kaitlin Brophy scored goals and the defense of Kelly OâConnor, Sarah Attanasio and Alex Israel was outstanding in the victory. Great all-around games were turned in by Jill Jagoe, Kristin Stoller, Sarah Murtha and Meagan Gonzalez.
Darien 3, Newtown 2 (State Cup, OT) â KellyAnne Brophy netted a direct kick and Jill Jagoe scored on an assist by Kristin Stoller to put the Roadrunners up early, but they could not hold off a strong Darien team.

Boys U12
Force 4, Torrington 4 â Sean Burson scored two goals while Peter Ovendorf and Justin Brophy also scored to lead the Force to a draw. Chad Cullens and Jimmy Mooney played well in the midfield. Trevor Carey and Chris McGowan anchored the defense. Newtown lead the entire game until the last second of the game when Torrington tied the score on a penalty kick.
Boys U10
Newtown FC 1, Watertown 1 â Jonah Muniz scored the lone Newtown goal in a draw with Watertown. Brandon Marks, Andrew Martinez and Logan Puleri were strong on the offensive side of the ball while Matt Baldino, Philip Healy and Doug Miller anchored the D.

Boys U14
The Clash 2, Flying Chipmunks 1 â Stephen Forgione scored a pair of goals off assists from Stephen Jarvis and James Radcliffe to lead The Clash to the recent win. Christian Gregoire and Zach Bennett played well. For the Chipmunks, Liam Ferguson scored off an assist from Bobby Mascher. Jimmy Russo and Bryan Wicki teamed up in goal while Max Eckert had a solid performance.
Wildfire 4 , Torpedoes 2 â Chris Arnone scored two goals and Jordan Mathurin and Brendan Bennett scored one apiece to lead the âFire to the win. Ivan Hutchinson and Nat Burns had great games for the Wildfire. For the Torpedoes, Ryan Pearlman and Miles Dobbrow netted goals while Robby Russo and Jeff Hoffman were super on defense.Â
Girls U14
Turf Trashers 4, Tigers 0 â Kaitlyn Connolly had a goal and an assist to lead the Turf Trashers to the win. Sammi Wray, Emily Floros and Rachel Ronden also scored.
Boys U8
Strikers 4, Supershooters 0 â Scott Anderson scored two goals to lead the Strikers to the win. Jacob Branchflower and Grant Untiedt played excellent games and Nick Samuelson was great in goal. Travis Hanna and Nathaniel Dowd played an excellent offensive game creating a number of scoring opportunities for the Supershooters. Devin Peterson had strong showing as fourth quarter goalie with several impressive saves.
