The show will be performed in a dinner-theater setting, with tickets at affordable prices, the final weekend of February and the first two weekends of March. The public is invited. Stage Door Productions is dedicated to providing entertainment events for everyone in the community, not just members of the Portuguese Club. While Broadway Bound will be the first full production staged the arts and entertainment committee, there is also a Karaoke Contest already in the works for November 11 (contact the Portuguese Center for additional information).
Broadway Bound will be a variety show saluting many of Broadwayâs best musicals including Wicked, Chicago, The Full Monty, Annie Get Your Gun, Barnum, Crazy For You and many more.
The show will be performed the weekends of Friday through Sunday, February 24 through March 12, so there will be nine performances total.
Auditions are scheduled for Sundays, November 6 and 13, from 2:30 to 6 pm each weekend. They will be conducted at the Portuguese Cultural Center, 65 Sand Pit Road in Danbury. Call-backs will be Sunday, November 20, also from 2:30 to 6 pm.
The producers are seeking talented youths and adults who sing and dance, especially tap dancers. Singers must arrive prepared with a song and sheet music or karaoke music containing music only.
Dancers should be prepared to learn a combination.
Photos and resumes for all performers are preferred.
Stage Door Productions is under the leadership of founder and president Maria Zargo and vice president and treasurer Len Zargo. Ms Zargo, who has more than 20 years of experience working in the media and entertainment industry, will be producing Broadway Bound as well as handling its publicity and ad sales.
Linda Davies, the director and choreographer of Broadway Bound, started Dance Etc. in Newtown in the 1980s and sold it to Jen Turey (a former Rockette) after 18 years. Ms Turey will be a contributing choreographer for the show.
Deanne Petriccione, the director of Brookfield School of Performing Arts, will be a contributing choreographer for Broadway Bound.
The musical conductor is John Pierre Ferragamo. Mr Pierre is presently directing Songs for a New World at Brookfield Playhouse. He also teaches voice, performs, and is attending school in Manhattan.
