South Main Collision

About 8:12 am October 19, a two-car accident occurred on southbound South Main Street at its intersection with Simm Lane.

Southbound motorist Segundo Guaman, 27, of Danbury, who was driving a 1993 Ford Escort, came to a stop and was waiting to make a left turn onto Simm Lane, when the Ford was struck from behind by southbound motorist James Monroe, 24, of 12 Parmalee Hill Road, who was driving a 1995 Nissan Altima, police report.

There were no injuries. Police issued Monroe a written warning for traveling at an unreasonable distance. Police gave Guaman a misdemeanor summons for driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a license, driving without automotive insurance, and misuse of marker plates. Police released Guaman on a promise to appear in court on November 2.

DUI Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for her arrest, Kaitlyn Murphy, 20, of 16 Cobblestone Lane turned herself in at the police station on October 19, and was charged with driving under the influence in connection with an August 4 accident on Sugar Street (Route 302), according to police.

That late night, single-vehicle accident drew about 20 firefighters to the scene where they performed lengthy, complex vehicle extrications to remove two people who were trapped inside an overturned Honda Civic.

Police have said that Murphy was driving the Honda eastward on Sugar Street, on a flat straightaway lying about 1,000 feet west of the Meadowbrook Terrace Mobile Home Park, when for some reason, the vehicle climbed guardrailing along the right road shoulder, causing it to roll over onto its roof. The vehicle skidded to a stop upside down. Murphy had two passengers in the vehicle.

All three occupants were transported to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries following the August 4 crash.

After processing her arrest on October 19, police released Murphy on a written promise to appear for arraignment November 2 in Danbury Superior Court.
