‘Made In Newtown’ Craft Show Will Return On October 22

The Newtown Newcomers and Neighbors Club will present its second annual “Made in Newtown” Craft Show, to be held in the Community Room of C.H. Booth Library, on Saturday October 22, 2005 from 10 am to 5 pm.

The library is at 25 Main Street in Newtown.

Admission to the show is free.

Fifteen local crafters will display and sell a diverse range of handicrafts, including jewelry, holiday decorations, painting, hand knitted items, and photography. All of the participants are Newtown residents.

Returning crafters include Lisa Cascone, Kathy Murdy, Leslie Troy, Diane Rand, Jeanie Ruddy and Marjorie Echols. New entrants include David Anderson, Sandra Ferris, and Ivette Worrell.

One of the artisans, Lisa Cascone, has several pieces, which uniquely honor the beauty of Newtown and the town’s Tercentennial celebration this year. Having a background in graphic design and photography, Ms Cascone has combined both art forms to create her own style and artistic technique. Using watercolor and color pencil, she creates original artwork of local landscapes, historical buildings or other architectural points of interest.

In addition, there will be a raffle of items donated by crafters and local merchants.

The Newcomers Club will use their proceeds from the show to fund their scholarship and community service efforts. Club representatives will be available to acquaint people with the Newtown Newcomers and Neighbors organization.

The club is a non-profit organization open to newcomers to town, as well as anyone currently living in Newtown.

Members help introduce new residents and each other to the civic and social aspects of Newtown and the surrounding area.
