Garner Inmate Assault

State police are investigating a violent incident at the high-security Garner Correctional Institution on Nunnawauk Road, in which two prison inmates were injured on the morning of October 13.

State police said they are seeking an arrest warrant listing a charge of second degree assault against inmate Sonny Flowers, 22. Injured in the incident was inmate Addison Bennings, 42, state police said.

Flowers is serving a 25-year prison sentence on a first degree assault conviction, according to the state Department of Correction (DOC). Bennings is being held in Garner on $1.5 million bail on a pending murder charge, according to DOC.
