Church Women United

Install New Officers

Newtown/Bethel Church Women United met with the Greater Danbury unit of CWU Friday, October 15, and before the Bible study installed the Greater Danbury unit’s new officers.

The officers include Elizabeth Ricci of New Fairfield, president; Joan Gourley of Bethel, vice president; Darlene Jackson, president of the Bethel/Newtown unit who conducted the installation; Annie Orr of Danbury, secretary; and Joan Stetson of Danbury, treasurer.

The Bible study was at Christ the King Lutheran Church. A rehearsal was held following the study for the November 4 World Community Day service that will be celebrated by the combined units and to which the public is invited. Mark Ingram of Charter Communications will be the speaker for the November event, which theme will be “A Light to the Nations.”

The ecumenical movement is active around the world, working to promote a just, caring, and peaceful society. The service is at 1 pm. For more information, contact Darlene Jackson at 426-5192.
