*CLAY AIKEN will bring his Joyful Noise Tour 2005 to The Chevrolet Theatre in Wallingford on Saturday, December 10. Tickets for that show will be on sale this Saturday morning at 10, and have been priced at $38, $48 and $58.

Contact any TicketMaster vendor or head out to the theater’s box office for purchases.

*SEETHER and AUDIOSLAVE will be playing at The Dodge Music Theatre (formerly The Meadows) in Hartford on November 1. 30 Seconds to Mars will be opening.

For those who (like me) don’t listen often enough to WCCC to have heard the announcement, this show is coming in as a celebration event for the Hartford-based radio station’s 30th anniversary.

Tickets are available through TicketMaster for $36 and $46.

*Critically acclaimed singer-songwriter EDWIN McCAIN will be at The Webster Theater on November 18. McCain, who has been able to blend equal parts folk, soul and rock, has signed with Vanguard Records and will release a new studio album in the spring. So the Hartford show will be a comfortable performance of familiar favorites.

All tickets for this show – an acoustic event – are just $15.

*Wesleyan University’s Center for the Arts is bringing rap activism  to Middletown on October 27, when it hosts a show by the hip-hop band THE COUP. The Coup will be joined by LIFESAVAS for a performance at the university’s Crowell Concert Hall.

Tickets are $12 for adults, and $10 for students (just bring your ID) and seniors. Showtime is 8 pm.

Advance reservations are being recommended by the university. Call 860-685-3355 for tickets or additional information.

*Local band OFF THE HOOK has a few shows in upcoming weekends. The trio will be at Tai Pan in Westport on Friday, October 21; Bravo Restaurant & Bar in Fairfield on October 22; Boston Billiards in Danbury on Thursday, October 27; the featured band for Carl Anthony’s Restaurant’s Halloween Party on Friday, October 28; and then back at Bravo on October 29.

Next month’s schedule includes a return to Carl Anthony’s on Friday, November 5; then Bravo on November 6; at Vazzy’s Osteria in Monroe on November 11; back at Bravo on November 12; back at Tai Pan on November 18; and then at Redding Roadhouse on November 19.

*Tickets have gone on sale for CHRISTMAS WITH THE AARON NEVILLE QUINTET at The Cabaret Theatre at Mohegan Sun. The show on November 28 will celebrate the release of Aaron Neville’s new CD, Christmas Prayer.

Tickets are $25 and available through the casino’s box office and TicketMaster.

*Also making a stop at The Cabaret Theatre will be Red Sox pitcher-turned-rocker in the off season BRONSON ARROYO. (Red Sox fans know Arroyo likes to rock year-round, actually, but he couldn’t take time during the ball season to play too much outside of Boston, could he?)

Inspired by music he heard while growing up, Arroyo released a CD in July called Covering The Bases, with the pitcher’s renditions of some of his favorites. These will no doubt comprise the bulk of Arroyo’s shows in Uncasville, on November 21 and 22.

Tickets are $30 and both shows will start at 7:30. Tickets, as with the Neville show, are available from the theater’s box office and TicketMaster outlets.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141. Shows listed at club locations are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
