For The Holidays
Relax and enjoy the upcoming holidays even more by taking a series of yoga and meditation classes beginning the week of November 1. Join with growing numbers of people who are discovering the many long-lasting benefits of these practices for personal health and well-being including increased ability to cope with stress, pain and illness; greater relaxation; improved flexibility, strength and balance; greater self-confidence and concentration; increased vitality.
A seven-week session of yoga classes starts on Tuesday, November 2 at 6 pm, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 183 Howe Avenue (Route 110) in Shelton; and on Thursday, November 4 at 9:30 am and 6 pm at Great Hill Church, 225 Great Hill Road (at the intersection of Routes 334 and 188) in Seymour.
Students will learn gentle stretching, yoga postures, breathing exercises, deep relaxation and meditation techniques. Ninety minute classes are non-competitive and for all levels of students.
Cost is $70 for the seven-week session or $13 for each drop-in class.
A six-week meditation course, âFoundation of Mindfulness,â also begins Thursday, November 1, at 225 Great Hill Road in Seymour. This course teaches âmindfulness,â a simple, direct practice that involves the moment-to-moment process.
Through sitting meditation and other techniques that are applicable to everyday life, students will learn to cultivate an inner calm and focused awareness along with clarity and wisdom. Course fee is $80. The class meets each week from 7:30 to 9 pm.
