Janet Mary Brolet, 67, of Stuart, Fla., passed away peacefully on October 14, 2022. She was originally diagnosed with stage four uterine cancer in 2006. After 16 tough, but joyful years, she succumbed to the disease, surrounded by her children.

Janet was born on November 6, 1954, to John and Emily Wayda in Jermyn, Penn. After graduating from Boca High School in 1972, she moved back to Connecticut to be with the love of her life, Leo, and graduated from Catherine Gibbs in NYC in 1973. They married in 1974 and raised their three children in Newtown. During that time she finally got her bachelor’s from Post University in 2000; she worked at Sikorsky for 12 years, and 15 years at Siemens before going on disability for her own cancer, and moving to Florida to care for her aging parents. After their passing, she bought her first home on her own in Stuart, Fla.

Janet loved the New England fall season, trips to Cape Cod or Maine, going to the movies with her brother Andrew, road trips anywhere, and spending time with her children.

She was a strong and caring woman, had a beautiful, infectious smile, and was always up to try a new restaurant. We will miss Janet greatly.

Janet was predeceased by her husband, Leo J. Brolet; her parents, John and Emily Wayda; and her sister-in-law, Maureen Wayda.

She is survived by her brothers, Mark, Stephen, and Andrew Wayda; her daughter, Kimberly Brolet, and her spouse, Ian Spatz; her son, Jason Brolet, and his fiance, Emily Erickson; her daughter, Emily Brolet; and her dog, Hachiko.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Janet’s name to Ability Beyond Disability or SPCA of Connecticut, as these organizations were important to her.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, November 4, from 3 to 5 pm at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury.

A Celebration of Life will begin at 5 pm to celebrate Janet’s life. Burial will be private.

Family and friends are encouraged to share a memory of comfort for the family at munsonloveterefuneralhome.com.
