Charles A. Krehel, 84, of Easton died peacefully October 15. He was the devoted husband for 60 years of Teresa M. (Daly) Krehel. He was the son of the late Mary (Sulik) and John Krehel.

In addition to his wife, his children, Colleen, and husband the Rev Vincent Seadale, of Martha’s Vineyard, and Gregg Krehel, and his partner Eleni Bookis, of Newtown and former spouse, PattiAnn of Southbury, survive Mr Krehel. He will be missed by grandchildren Caitlin Celella, and husband Andy, Bridget and James Seadale, and Tara and Rachel Krehel; as well as his sister Marian Zelle and brothers John and Richard Krehel. A brother, Lawrence Krehel, predeceased him.

Charles had distinguished military service in the US Army as an adjutant to a general during the Korean Conflict.

He graduated from Fairfield University/BEI as a mechanical engineer, with postgraduate studies in education. His career as a business owner and executive spanned several decades across a range of industries, including Olin and Exxon Corporations, and he continued his service prior to retirement with the Navy as an engineering professional for NAVPRO, supporting Sikorsky aircraft development.

He had a passion for sailing and enjoyed excursions to the shoreline along Cape Cod and Florida’s Gulf of Mexico. His siblings, children, and grandchildren remember him as a protector, and a source of unwavering support and encouragement. He challenged each one to believe in themselves, and “That any goal is possible.” Mr Krehel touched many lives as a devoted husband, father, brother, and grandfather and, following retirement, discovered lasting rewards while making a significant impact in his community as a respected tutor and beloved mentor at Joel Barlow High School.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Friday, October 23, at 10 am, at Notre Dame of Easton Church, 655 Morehouse Road, Easton. Interment will follow in St John’s Cemetery, in Monroe.
