Winning Ticket Drawn In Newtown Lions Mustang Raffle

Patty Golias of Marlborough won the Mustang in the Newtown Lions Club car raffle on October 14.

“I’ve wanted a Mustang like this ever since I can remember,” Ms Golias said. “I used to watch Mary Tyler Moore on TV wash hers on the show and thought someday that would be me,” she said when she picked up the keys to the 1965 Ford Mustang classic convertible this week.

A Mustang fan, she is married to a Corvette enthusiast. Her husband John Golias has a 1967 convertible, but Ms Golias insists she would not let that rivalry get in the way of taking their grandchildren to car rallies at Lake George, N.Y., or Mohegan Sun Casino.

Ms Golias is a legal assistant at United Technologies in Hartford. She purchased her winning ticket at a car show at Mustangs Unlimited in Manchester just last month.

The winning ticket was drawn on the lawn of Newtown Middle School by Chris Gardner, chairman of the Board of Newtown Youth Services, one of the many charitable and community services organizations supported by the Lions Club.

The annual Mustang Raffle is the largest annual fundraising activity for Newtown. Ms Golias said she buys several tickets every year because the raffle supports numerous charities.
