Improv Returning To Theater Barn
Improv Returning To Theater Barn
RIDGEFIELD â Another evening of improvisational insanity awaits audiences when the next installment of Whose Barn Is It Anyway? returns to The Ridgefield Theater Barn on Friday, October 27. Doors open at 7 pm and curtain will be at 8.
The show will feature the theaterâs resident improv troupe, The Role in the Hay Players: includes Laura Banks, Jody Bayer, Cheryl Boyd, Wayne Leiss, Daniel Nisbeth, Melissa Power, Mary Shuldman and Rick Hodder, who is also the groupâs coach.
Similar in concept to the popular TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway? featuring Drew Carey, actors create dialogue and actions spontaneously in response to suggestions from the audience. There is no script and no plot. The action is initiated with game playing techniques that put the performers in situations where they must use their imaginations and comedy skills.
What evolves is typically a combination of stand-up comedy and game show, with hilarious results. In the wacky world of improvisational comedy, anything can happen and usually does. And what makes improv unique and entertaining is that the audience participates in the mayhem.
Tickets are $20, $15 of which is tax-deductible, and are available online (TheaterBarn.org), over the phone or at the door.
Proceeds of the performance will benefit the theater barnâs new addition building fund.
Ridgefield Theater Barn is at 37 Halpin Lane. Seating is cabaret style and patrons are invited to bring food and beverage. Doors open at 7 pm. Curtain at 8 pm. Call 203-431-9850 for reservations or additional information.
