Cadet Patrick Keating, son of Daniel and Elizabeth Keating of Newtown, has earned the Superintendent’s Award for Achievement at the US Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.. The award is presented to the top 15 percent of cadets who excel in the academic, military, and physical programs.

Tara Meehan, NHS Class of 2006 and a freshman at American University, Washington, D.C., participated in the Freshman Service Experience, a community service project in which freshman students contributed nearly 13,000 hours of service at 44 sites around the D.C. area.

Peter Meisel, a senior dean’s list student, worked for associate biology professor Rebecca Sommer at Bates. He studied the molecular pathways involved when a specific toxin is administered to chicken heart cells. He received a faculty grant this past summer to conduct his research.
