RSVP, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, will hold a reception at the Newtown Senior Center on Wednesday, October 27, at 12:30 pm.
The event is planned as a recognition for volunteers and a recruitment effort.
RSVP is made up of members over age 55 who volunteer in many ways including delivering meals to homebound people, tutoring teenagers, renovating homes, teaching English to immigrants, transporting elderly and disabled people to medical appointments â whatever their skills and interests lead them to do.
The Northern Fairfield County RSPV chapter has more than 500 members from the towns of Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, Newtown, Redding and Ridgefield. Part of the National Senior Service Corps, RSVP is a non-profit organization sponsored by the Western Connecticut Chapter of the American Red Cross and funded by a combination of grants from the federal and state governments, as well as from the United Way.
