*Andy Spencer plays the mandolin, not the banjo. After all the notes I’ve put into this column concerning one of our favorite local trios, TREBLEHOOK, you’d think I could remember who plays what.

Fortunately Andy’s a forgiving guy and he gave me just a gentle reminder this week that I had gotten something wrong again when he dropped a line to the office to let me know about a few new shows the band has set up. Treblehook will be at The Fireside Inn in Newtown next weekend, on Friday, October 29. That show will begin at 9 pm.

The following weekend, the trio will be at Bassetts Coffee House, a great little place at the Four Corners intersection in Brookfield. The coffee house is in the little strip mall right on Route 7 that is also home to Mother Earth Gallery. The band will be at Bassetts on Saturday, November 5, and that show will start around 8:30.

Treblehook — which is also Alan Morgan and Brian Morgan — is still working on its first full album. The recording process is nearly complete as far as the studio goes, and the band is hoping to have something to release by February. Hopefully by then I’ll know who plays what, too.

*GREGG ALLMAN fans take note: Tickets are not yet available, but the Gregg Allman & Friends tour will be in Connecticut for two shows in December. The tour itself kicks off in Glenside, PA, November 28. The tour will then arrive in the Nutmeg State for a show at The Palace Theatre in New Haven on December 15, and then a show at Foxwoods Casino in Ledyard on December 17.

*ANI DiFRANCO is returning to the state again, just a few weeks after her latest show at The Bushnell in Hartford. DiFranco will be at Jorgensen Auditorium, on UConn’s main campus in Storrs, on October 31.

*The following night, Connecticut fans of our state’s own MEAT LOAF can forgo the trick-or-treating for one year and head to The Palace Theatre in New Haven. Now that the entertainer has released To Hell and Back: An Autobiography and the new album Storytellers, from the VH-1 show of the same name, he must be in the mood to celebrate. Tickets are on sale now for the Halloween show in New Haven, with all seats set at $50. Tickets are available online at Tickets.com, through Tickets.com’s Call Center at 888/477-6849, or The Palace box office at 203/789-2120.

Meat Loaf also has a show next month in Connecticut. He will be at Mohegan Sun Casino on Saturday, November 13, also on the “Storytellers” tour. Remaining tickets for that show are $25 each and are available at Tickets.com. For some help over the phone, call Mohegan Sun’s information line at 888/226-7711, or the casino’s box office, 860/204-7163. Neither of these shows seem to be available through TicketMaster.

*Speaking of tickets, I think the ones going on sale Monday, November 6, for CROSBY, STILLS, NASH & YOUNG’s reunion tour have got to be setting records. The CSNY reunion tour will roll into Hartford Civic Center on April 12. When tickets go on sale in a few weeks, they will be available at four levels: $31.75, $41.75, $52.25, and $202.25.

The foursome will be performing songs on the new tour not only from their new studio album, Looking Forward, but also from the two previous studio albums by the quartet and also songs of members’ past bands.

*A few new shows were announced for the SNET Oakdale this week. Saturday morning, tickets are going on sale for MEGADETH, who will be in Wallingford on Tuesday, November 23. Tickets are $20 and $25 for that show, which will have opening sets by Static X and DDT.

QUEENSRYCHE will be at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford on Saturday, December 4. Those tickets are going on sale next weekend, on October 30, and are $25 and $35 apiece. Oakdale tickets are available by calling 203/265-1501, or in-person at the box office.

*Also going on sale next weekend will be tickets for PHISH at Hartford Civic Center. The show will be on Sunday, December 12, at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $26.50 and will be available at the civic center box office and all TicketMaster outlets.

*Finally this week, a reminder that GOLDFINGER is on the road this month and will be pulling into Danbury next week. The band has a show at Tuxedo Junction on Wednesday, October 27, that is open to all ages. Tickets are $10 if you get them in advance, and will be $13 at the door.  (Also, the BIG ORANGE CONE show that was scheduled for next Friday has been changed to a show by BAMBOO.)

Until next week, I’ll be seeing you... on the road.

Questions and comments concerning “On The Road” (or anything music related) should be sent to Shannon Hicks, c/o Bee Publishing Co., 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown 06470, or shannon@thebee.com. Include a phone number for confirmation, please. If you don’t have a stamp or a piece of paper or a writing utensil that works, give me a call! The phone number at the office is 426-3141.
