Robinson Is Ideal For ZBA
To the Editor:
John Robinson is an ideal choice to serve on the Zoning Board of Appeals. He’s a long-time Newtown resident and recently retired senior fellow at Northrop Grumman. An electrical engineer by profession, he also knows construction, and has an interest in architecture, property management and all things mechanical. Additionally, he has personal experience with the ZBA, having applied for a variance on his house several years ago.
I am a four-term member of the ZBA, and do not represent the commission in this letter of support. Instead, John and Michele are friends. I can say that John is an excellent candidate because he has multiple technical skills, a keen interest in this town, and the drive to do the right thing.
John understands the nature of the ZBA challenges. Some housing sites are uniquely difficult. The ZBA approves variances when solutions fit the character of the town — and still align with the purpose of the regulations. I believe John is committed to this positioning and would be a great addition to Newtown’s ZBA team.
Sincerely,
Jane Sharpe
