To the Editor:

When members of the Board of Education were tasked with interviewing and then subsequently selecting a colleague replacement, a unanimous vote was cast for Alison Plante. And rightly so. The work of the Board is fulfilled through committee meetings, liaison assignments and constant interaction with central office staff when necessary.

Alison quickly began to work as a BOE member, learning quickly how the district functions. Sleeves rolled up, she was tasked to be the chair of two committees and participated in multiple union negotiations, all the while consistently prepared. She worked across the aisle and helped broker the resolution of the recent book challenge issue, crafting the motion that passed unanimously while upholding both students and first amendment rights and the right of parents to make choices for their own children.

Key to her success is her ability to be logical and respectful, enabling her to build trusting relationships with administration and staff. Alison believes a “one team” mentality breeds forward thinking. Alison has my full endorsement so please consider reinstating Alison to the Board of Education.

These are my personal thoughts and not those of the Board of Education on which I proudly serve.
