To the Editor:

I strongly encourage my fellow District 1 voters to join me in voting for two outstanding Democratic Candidates for the Legislative Council, Chris Gardner and Laura Miller.

Chris is a lifelong Newtown resident who I have known since he was a young boy. He was raised by wonderful parents, Karen and Bob Gardner (a former Legislative Council Member). I have watched Chris grow up to be a fine husband, father, and public servant.

Chris is currently a Legislative Council member, who also serves as a Senior Burgess for the Borough of Newtown and formerly served on the Board of Finance. In addition, he has been a volunteer for many other Newtown organizations and is currently the “Keeper of the Flag” for our Flagpole. I am sure that Chris will continue to be an outstanding Legislative Council member.

Laura is a 23-year Newtown resident, wife, mother, and grandmother who currently serves on the Board of Finance, where she has demonstrated skills that will serve us well on the Legislative Council. I have known Laura to be a very open-minded, thoughtful, well organized and disciplined thinker, skills that make her well suited for the Legislative Council.

Laura also has leadership and communication skills that she has demonstrated in her career as a school principal and educator. All in all, I believe Laura will also be an outstanding Legislative Council member.

Once again, I ask you to please join me in voting for Chris and Laura. Newtown needs their talent.
