On Friday, November 20, at 7 pm, Hiss Golden Messenger will headline the next show in the Live at the Edmond Town Hall music series.

The music of Hiss Golden Messenger draws in equal parts from the deep wells of traditional/vernacular Southern song and early 1970s country-rock (think Van Morrison’s ethereal “Veedon Fleece”). Distinguished by a conjuring of spiritual (often Biblical) concerns and characters — as well as a taut lyricism informed by writers as disparate as Ronnie Lane, Lew Welch, and Wendell Berry — their songs are often called rank the most exquisitely crafted and eloquent of this generation.  David Bowie opines that the sound of Hiss Golden Messenger is that of “mystical country, like an eerie, yellowing photograph.”

Canadian singer-songwriter Frazey Ford will open.

Tickets are $20 each and are available at edmondtownhall.org/liveateth.

All profits from Live at the Edmond Town Hall shows go towards improvement efforts at Newtown's historic Edmond Town Hall, at 45 Main Street. Built during the Great Depression, this New England landmark recently entered into the 21st Century with brand new, state-of-the-art sound, power, lighting and digital projection technologies.
