Series Of ‘Strong Women, Strong Bones’ Classes Slated

NEW MILFORD — Starting October 29, New Milford Hospital will offer the next series of Strong Women, Strong Bones, a national, evidence-based fitness program designed to prevent and reverse osteoporosis/osteopenia and promote general health and wellness.

Each session affords seven weeks (two classes per week) of exercise targeted to middle-aged and older women to increase strength, balance and flexibility and is appropriate for both sedentary and active women.

The cost is $85 for seven weeks of classes, and the fee is pro-rated for those who join midsession.

Strong Women, Strong Bones is a nationally recognized fitness program led by Tufts University instructor Lisa Marie Lee. Health and wellness benefits include arthritis relief, restoration of balance and flexibility, strengthening of bones, proper weight maintenance, and improved glucose control and heart health.

Ms Lee is a certified yoga instructor and massage therapist who completed the Tufts University Strong Women training in 2004, and served as a Strong Women Program leader at Hartford Hospital for several years.
