Modzelewski Garners Player Of Week Honors

Newtown’s Alli Modzelewski, a soccer player at the University of Massachusetts-Boston, earned Little East Conference (LEC) Defensive Player of the Week accolades for her performance in mid September.

Modzelewski anchored the Beacons’ defense, and helped the team to its first conference win over Keene State of New Hampshire in the program’s history. She sparked a come-from-behind win over Bridgewater State, when she scored the first of three Beacons goals in the second half.

The Beacons earned a spot in the NSCAA New England Poll as the tenth ranked team in the region. The team improved to 13-1 and moved into first place in the LEC with a 5-0 conference mark, this week.
