Queen Street Hit And Run Injures
Young Boy

Police, ambulance, and fire crews converged at 64 Queen Street at about 6:33 Wednesday evening after a report of a pedestrian hit by a car. Upon arriving, emergency responders found an injured young male juvenile being comforted by neighbors.
The child appeared to be conscious and alert and was communicative as he was being treated.
Police said Thursday morning that the offending vehicle left the scene. A bulletin was issued to area police departments immediately following the incident, describing the vehicle as blue, possibly a Volkswagen, with possible headlight damage.
No further information was available about the condition of the injured child. Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision or the vehicle fleeing the scene to call 426-5841.
This incident may serve to reinforce an ongoing concern area residents have been rallying over in recent years, as the Borough of Newtown agonizes over a protracted plan for slowing or diminishing traffic on Queen Street.
The area where the accident occurred this week is just east of a blind hill, where the speed limit is posted at 25 miles per hour. As recently as late last week, a stationary radar unit was posted within a few yards of the hit and run, displaying the speed limit of any approaching vehicle, cautioning those exceeding the posted limit.
