Beloved Husband, Father, And Grandfather
Emil George Manka, Sr, 65, of Danbury, beloved husband of Joan Rita (Caraszi) Manka, died as the result of a motorcycle accident on October 14. He was born in Stamford on December 30, 1941, son of Emil and Julia (Palitz) Manka.
In addition to his cherished wife of 44 years, he will be sadly missed by his two daughters, Sherry Morrissey and her husband, Kevin, of Newtown and Amy Manka of Danbury; his son, Emil Manka, Jr, and his wife, Lisa, of Danbury; and his grandchildren, Katlyn, Amelinda, Emil III, Kevin, Kyle, Colin, Bryan, Brendan, and Lazzara. He is also survived by his sister, Judith Cotton and her husband, Charles, of New Hampshire; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Mike Manka.
Mr Manka was a graduate of Stamford High School, Class of 1960. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the United States Air Force. He worked as warehouse manager for Mariano Brothers in Bethel for 30 years.
He was an active member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brookfield, volunteered as an usher, and served on the Prince of Peace Cemetery Board and the Board of Cedar Heights Association.
Mr Manka was an avid Mets fan and a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family.
Funeral services were held October 18 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Brookfield. Burial in Prince of Peace Cemetery followed.
