ROCKY HILL â More than 200 volunteers, including several from Newtown and Bethel, helped make the annual carnival at the Rocky Hill Veteransâ Home a success. The volunteers represented 60 different organizations that maintained booths at the carnival.
Attending from Newtown VFW Post 308 was Commander David Peck, Quartermaster Frank Furze, and post Auxiliary President Jo Ann Peck. Bethel Post 935 Commander Richard Godfrey and post Auxiliary President Marie Godfrey shared a booth with Newtown. Combined, they gave more than $600 in gifts to the veterans.
âWe would like to thank everyone who donated items and contributed to making our booth such a success,â Mrs Peck said. âThe veterans really appreciated it. Most popular items this year were gifts for the ladies in their life, including hats, socks, stuffed animals, as well as UCONN Paws.â
