Osborne, a sophomore, shared part of a 6-0 shutout of Oberlin on October 9 with junior Maggie Meagher. Osborne made the only save. For the season, Osborne had played in five games, allowed no goals, and made four saves.
KELLY SMITH of Newtown, a 1999 graduate of Newtown High School, has been a diamond in the rough for the Pace University womenâs soccer team. Smith was named the Northeast-10 Conference Newcomer of the Week for the week ending October 10 after leading the Setters to three consecutive victories. In the stretch, Smith allowed just three goals in three games. For the season, she has made 103 saves in 10 games and recorded a shutout against Concordia on October 7. Pace is 3-8 overall, 1-5 in the conference.
TONI MILITANO of Newtown, a 1996 graduate of Newtown High School, had a goal and an assist to lead the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute womenâs field hockey team to a win over SUNY-Brockport. For the season, Militano has four goals and two assists and is tied for the team lead with 10 points. Rensselaer is 6-8 on the year.
