MONROE — Regional Hospice invites the public to the upcoming annual Newtown Giving Circle Breakfast, scheduled for Thursday, November 9, at The Waterview, 215 Roosevelt Drive/Route 34 in Monroe.

Registration begins at 7:30 am and the program will conclude by 9 am.

Longtime Newtown Giving Circle event co-chairs and local residents Marg Studley and Marie Sturdevant will be honored this year for their two-plus decades of service planning this benefit annually.

Studley believes in selflessly giving all she can to others in need. She and her family have lived in Newtown for more than 50 years and during that time, she has been involved in many volunteer activities including chairing or co-chairing the Regional Hospice breakfast for 30+ years. She is also the current president of Newtown Meals on Wheels.

“Nothing has meant as much to me as my involvement with Hospice,” she said.

Sturdevant has also been involved with Regional Hospice for over 30 years, including serving as secretary and co-chair of the annual Newtown Giving Circle event.

She has also been involved with several other volunteer organizations, including Newtown Woman’s Club since the early 1970s. She is inspired, she said, by “the talented employees at Regional Hospice who have such devotion to helping those in need, including children and adults.”

Sturdevant plans to remain part of the Newtown Breakfast, she said, for many years to come.

This year, Regional Hospice is celebrating its 40th anniversary. Additionally, November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month.

Regional Hospice is committed to providing comfort and care to its patients and their families as they embark on end-of-life journeys. The regional chapter serves an average of 50 Newtown patients annually. Its highly skilled interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, hospice aides, social workers, chaplains, bereavement counselors and hospice-trained volunteers has the privilege of caring for patients and their loved ones in their homes, assisted living and nursing facilities, and at its residential Center for Comfort Care & Healing in Danbury.

Single tickets to attend are $45 or a table sponsorship for up to ten guests is $350. A sponsorship of the event and program ads are also available.

Donations of raffle prizes from local businesses are appreciated.
