The Nighthawks junior varsity team ran its record to 5-0 with a 22-14 win over Jonathan Law this week. Sean Speer scored a pair of touchdowns in the game (one two- and three-yard runs) and Rob Konkos added another on a five-yard pass from Tom Ryan.

Prior to that win, the ‘Hawks crushed Brookfield, 34-0, as Kyle Nowak and Matt DeLuca scored two touchdowns apiece. The big one was a 57-yard run by Nowak that put the ‘Hawks ahead 12-0.

Kevin Whipkey added a touchdown, also, on a 51-yard run.

This year, Newtown also defeated Notre Dame (28-12), Bunnell (24-12), and Stratford (14-0).

“With the continued development of the underclassmen,” said head jayvee coach John Larkins, “Newtown football has a great future. The jayvee squad continues to play better and better with each week.”
