Poetry Bash
BETHEL â Wednesday Night Poetry at Bethel Arts Junction will present its 5th Annual Poetry Halloween Bash on October 27. Doors will open at 7:30, and the event is set to begin almost immediately, at 7:45.
Poets are invited to arrive dressed as their favorite dead poet and read a poem or two by that poet. There is also the option of dressing as a character in one of your own poems. The evening has traditionally been a very exciting one for the weekly poetry series. Costumes are encouraged, but not mandatory.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three poet/poetry combos.
As is traditional for the series, the evening will also host a featured reader. Ed Ciocys, from New York City, will be the guest poet for October 27. Mr Ciocys is the author of Sad Angel, published by Hanover Press in 1997, and a collection of âmixed formâ poetry. He has edited two poetry anthologies, and is currently working on writing a novel.
Bethel Arts Junction is in the renovated railroad depot building at Depot Place in Bethel. The building is at the far end of the parking lot just off Greenwood Avenue, between Greenwoodâs Restaurant and One Front Street restaurant.
Suggested admission for the Poetry Halloween Bash is $1. For additional information, contact program director Faith Vicinanza at 426-3388.
