Safe And Secure And Easy To Do
To The Editor:
Monday October 21st at 10 am starts Early Voting. It lasts for 14 consecutive days ending at 6 pm on Sunday November 3rd. The hours are 10-6 every day except October 29th and 31st which is 8 to 8.
Early Voting will be held in the Registrar of Voter’s office in the Municipal Center at 3 Primrose Street. If you are not registered to vote and are eligible to register you can do that when you come in to vote. You will need ID just as you do to vote in the polls. We will check you off in the computer, you will get an envelope and a ballot. You vote, fold your ballot in half and slide it into the envelope. You will seal the envelope and sign it. The worker will verify that your envelope is signed and then you can deposit your envelope in the receptacle. You will receive a sticker and you are done. You have voted.
At the end of the night we get a print out of all the activity for that day. We match our envelopes up to the list. Both parties are represented as the envelopes are sealed up with the list and placed in a locked fireproof area. The ballots will be opened first thing election morning. The envelopes are slit open and the ballots go into one pile with the envelopes in another. The envelopes are sealed and stored then the ballots are mixed up and then flattened out to go through the tabulator to get the results at the end of the night. Everything is done with both parties represented.
The process is easy, safe and secure. You have avoided the hassle of going to the polls and still got to vote in person.
We look forward to seeing you.
