Watch Out, The Scarecrows Are Coming
Watch Out, The Scarecrows
Are Coming
As reported in The Bee last week, the Newtown Middle School lawn will be full of scarecrows again, as of next Saturday, October 25.
Once the NMS Scarecrow Contest is set up, residents will be able to vote for their favorite scarecrow until the evening of Halloween, October 31. Each vote costs $1, and the three top winners choose a local charity to which the proceeds will be donated. The scarecrows will also be for sale to help raise more money.
Students in the Art Enrichment and Discovery programs along with other student volunteers assemble their scarecrows at home in groups of three to four. Students who participate earn an âAâ grade to be used when they need it in an art class during the school year.
Ballots to vote for the scarecrows will be printed in next weekâs edition of The Bee, and they will be available at NMS. Students will be set up at the school to collect ballots, and they can also be dropped off at The Newtown Bee office.
