Ashlar Offering Free Dinner, Lunch Activities

Ashlar of Newtown is hosting a complimentary dinner presentation on “Wealth Preservation Planning: For You, Your Children and Your Parents,” Wednesday, October 22, from 6 to 8 pm.

Newtown resident Ann Fowler-Cruz, a certified elder care attorney with Cohen and Wolf, PC, in Danbury, and Barbara McMahon, a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, will present. Both experts will discuss current and useful strategies for the preservation, protection, and transfer of wealth in these difficult financial times.

Asset protection in the event of long-term care will also be discussed. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of both presenters and learn more about the unique services offered at Ashlar.

The second event, a free Lunch and Learn Program for the community titled, “Talking With Your Doctor: How to communicate and develop a good relationship,” will be held Wednesday, October 29, in the Lodge Room at Lockwood Lodge Assisted Living at Masonicare’s Ashlar of Newtown.

Jennifer Tanger-King, ACSW, LCSW, regional director of counseling and complementary therapies for Connecticut VNA, will present the program. A complimentary lunch will be served at noon, followed by the program at 12:15 pm.

Unfortunately, most people feel rushed during a doctor’s appointment and come away without getting answers to important questions they meant to ask. Knowing how to communicate with your doctor can help you make the most out of your office visits.

Ms Tanger-King will offer tips on how you can best prepare for an appointment and promote a positive exchange with your physician.

Ashlar of Newtown sponsors the Lunch and Learn series to provide the public with important and timely health and wellness information. There is no fee for the program, but seating is limited.

Anyone wishing to attend either or both events should call the Masonicare HelpLine Center at 888-679-9997 to make a reservation.
