Marguerite (Farrell) Smith Lundgren, 85, of Stratford, beloved wife of retired Stratford Fire Chief Hans Lundgren and the late James Smith, died October 12 in her home.
She was the sister of Edmond Farrell of Newtown.
Mrs Lundgren was born on December 7, 1914, in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Matthew and Margaret (Lynch) Farrell, and had been a lifetime area resident. She was a graduate of the Bridgeport Normal School, and was a retired teacher for St James School with 30 years of service, and a member of the First Church Council and the Bridgeport Retired Teachers organizations.
Survivors, in addition to her husband and brother, include three sons, Jay Smith and his wife Paulette of York, Penn., Gerald Smith and his wife Barbara of Norwich, and Robert Smith and his wife Eileen of Stratford; one daughter, Mary Jane Newell of California; nine grandchildren, Gerald Smith, Jr, Jacqueline Mills, Susan Blinderman, Laura Devaux, Tracy Strausser, Brian Smith, Mark Smith, Tiffany Pushkar, and Michael Smith; one great-grandson, Robert Strausser; and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Matthew Farrell.
The funeral service was held on October 16 from the William R. McDonald Funeral Home, 2591 Main Street, Stratford, and in St James Roman Catholic Church, Stratford, for a funeral Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Father Thomas Lynch. Interment was in St Michael Cemetery, Stratford.
