DANBURY — An information session, “Understanding Your Medicare Rights and Options,” will be held on Monday, October 23, from 10 an to noon at the Ethan Allen Inn. The meeting is sponsored by the Health Care Financing Administration (HFCA), the federal Medicare agency, and the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging.

About 30,000 senior citizens living in of western Connecticut are affected by the recent decisions by some health maintenance organizations to discontinue offering “Medicare + Choice” managed care plans next year.

The information session will cover such issues as options for the future, timetable for making decisions, the process for changing to another Medicare plan, Medigap supplemental insurance, and a review of the basic Medicare program.

The Ethan Allen Inn is located at 21 Lake Avenue Extension in Danbury.
