Children’s Programs

Mother Daughter Book Club – The C.H. Booth Library is pleased to offer a series of Mother Daughter book discussions for girls in grades 3-4. The second book in this four-part series is Love You, Soldier, by Amy Hest. Multiple copies of the book are available in the children’s department. The discussion will take place on Wednesday, October 25, at 7 pm in the library meeting room. This program is co-sponsored by the Connecticut Humanities Council and the Friends of the Library. Pat Miniter, a 31 year veteran of the New Haven school system, will lead the discussions. A signup sheet is available in the children’s department. Space is limited to 25 mother/daughter pairs.

Craft Program – Marie Walker will conduct a Halloween craft workshop, Saturday, October 21, from 11:00-12:00 in the children’s room at the library. Recommended for ages 6 and up. Space is limited to 15. A $2 material fee is due upon registration.

Story Hour Registration – Register for the next series of story hours for two year olds and 3-5 year olds beginning October 23. Participants must be 2 or 3 years of age before November 6. Registration continues through October 31. Forms are available in the children’s department. No phone registrations will be accepted. Adult Programs

Senior Transitions – The Homesteads at Newtown is sponsoring an exciting new Seminar Series which will be continuing on Nov 16 at 2 pm at the library. The topic will be “The Transition Process: Traumas of Moving Madness.” The series is free and refreshments will be served.

Mystery Lovers! The Friends of the Library are sponsoring an exciting new book discussion series. The series which features four best selling mysteries will continue on Tues, Oct 24, at 7:30 with Ill Wind by Nevada Barr, and on Nov 7 One for the Money by Janet Evanovich. A limited number of copies of all titles are available at the library. You can come to one discussion or all four. Please sign up at the circulation desk or by calling the library at 426-4533.

Yoga With Ricky Ayers

Yoga continues at the library with Ricky Ayers on Thurs in Oct, from 4:45-6 pm in the meeting room. Please call Ricky at 262-8721 to sign up for this program.

Calling all Knitters. Susan Shaw will be teaching a beginner’s knitting class for four consecutive Wednesdays starting on October 18, at 12:15 pm. Knitters will learn how to make mittens. Supplies needed for first class will be either size 8 (adult) single pointed needles or size 10 (child) single pointed needles, a yarn needle, two yarn holders, and 4oz. of worsted weight yarn. The Healing Power Of Touch

Linda Napier, RN, will be giving a talk on her book Tender Medicine: Touching the Heart, Healing the Hurt on Tues, Nov 14, at 7:30 pm. This book is for medical professionals, patients, and the people who love them. Linda’s words illuminate the connection between touch, love, and health. With a clear easy style, Linda will share personal experiences, then follow up with concise summaries and practical guides for making life-changing choices. The book will be available for purchase at the talk.
