Aromatherapy And Medicinal Herbs At Garden Club Meeting
Aromatherapy And Medicinal Herbs At Garden Club Meeting
The October meeting of The Garden Club of Newtown will feature a presentation by the herbalist and master gardener Pamela Quayle. Ms Quayle will be discussing âAromatherapy and Medicinal Herbs.â
Ms Quayle graduated from Michael Mooreâs Southwestern School of Botanical Medicine in 1986. Since then she has continued to extend her knowledge through growing and using her own plants. She has also attended numerous workshops. She has a great love of the natural world and a deep belief that bringing herbs into anyoneâs life can help them reconnect with nature and its healing forces.
A resident of Haddam, Ms Quayle is the owner of The Herb Gatherer, a mail order business for herbal products and supplies. She tends organic gardens that grow a large variety of the herbs for her products. She also grows native woodland and prairie plants she says she âjust canât resist.â
In addition to lecturing across the state, Ms Quayle also offers workshops in the historical garden at Thankeful Arnold House and wild âweedâ and native plant identification walks in Haddam. She can also be found in a booth offering herbs, herbal products, and perennials at Chester Farmersâ Market on Saturdays, May through October.
The Garden Club of Newtownâs next meeting will be on Tuesday, October 24. Members of the club will meet at noon for lunch and a business program.
The public is invited to join the garden club at 1 pm, when Ms Quayle is scheduled to speak. There is no charge to attend. The meeting and program will be in the lower level meeting room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street in Newtown. Registration is not necessary, although additional information will be available and questions can be answered by publicity chairman Ginnie Carey, who can be reached at 270-1108.
