To the Editor:

I’ve watched Newtown go through some significant changes over the 21 years that we’ve lived here. And frankly, our town leaders have struggled at times to manage the impact of that change due to a lack of decision making — either borne out of a need to please everybody with a watered down compromise or a fear of actually making any decision at all.

Dennis Brestovansky should be your vote for Board of Education simply based on this simple fact: he has proven himself to be able to make the hard decisions. He listens first and acts appropriately and decisively. His sole reason for running in the first place is to get things done for the taxpayers of Newtown whose hard-earned dollars fund the quality school system we’ve come to expect from living here.

Don’t have any kids in school? Dennis knows that you still need our schools to be the best they can be in order to give your property values the best chance they have to outpace what is currently a dismal scene in our state.

Kids in school? This guy knows what you as parents want; he understands what your kids need to be the best they can be. He and his wife, Liz, raised their kids here from an early age — and after briefly moving away, they actually moved back to Newtown to take advantage of a school system with a solid foundation that he knew he could help make better.

Dennis Brestovansky knows what our schools should deliver for the people of Newtown, no matter what your stage of life or financial situation. Trust me — this is the guy who will listen to what people are saying and make the hard decisions that will secure Newtown’s school system for the next generation.
