We need selectmen who will put in the time it takes to do the job well. If the present is truly an indicator of the future, Gary Fetzer and Joe Hemingway will be the hardest working Board of Selectmen that Newtown has ever seen. Every day since the end of June they have been knocking on the doors of the voters asking for their advice and soliciting their support to help the town after the election.

When they came to my house, they committed to holding neighborhood meetings and joint meetings between boards and commissions. Important steps to help our town move forward.

I believe that Gary and Joe have shown that they are able to bring different backgrounds together — to get things done. I saw first hand at their campaign kick-off how Democrats, Republicans, IPN members and unaffiliated voters all worked together to clean the streets. That’s the kind of team work we need!

It seems like one of the parties in this year’s campaign is saying that everything over the past two years has been fine, while another party just tries to blame everyone. I have read week after week, Gary and Joe’s various position papers, raising issues, and talking about where Newtown is going. They understand this campaign is about what we need and where we’re going. That’s who we need serving us on the Board of Selectmen. That is why they have my support and vote!
