Monotypes To Be Featured Next At Frameworks Art Gallery

Lisa P. Oswald of Monroe will be exhibiting a collection of new monotypes from her “Modern Interpretations of Classic Nudes” and “Trans4mations” series at Koenig Frameworks and Art Gallery from October 23 through November 21.

Ms Oswald’s work transforms two-dimensional images into voluminous three-dimensional works of art. Her modern interpretations of classic nudes abandon the accepted notions of beauty and form and explore the infinite ways to depict the power, strength and spirit of women. Highly abstracted, somewhat ambiguous and often provocative, her work blurs the line between how we see ourselves versus the way others see us

About the “Trans4mations” series, Oswald says: “These abstract images are an inventive look at the transformative nature of the self, telling a story of our ever changing, always present personal struggles with identity, anxiety, performance and personality.”

Lisa Oswald learned printmaking at the Contemporary Artists Center in North Adams, Mass., and furthered her studies at The Creative Arts Workshop and Center For Contemporary Printmaking in Connecticut, and the Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence, Italy.

Ms Oswald is a member of the Monotype Guild of New England, Center for Contemporary Printmaking, and Women’s Caucus for Art. When she is not in the studio, she is working full-time as vice president-operations at priceline.com.

The exhibit will open on Friday, October 23, with a reception from 6 to 8 pm, at Koenig Frameworks and Art Gallery, 97 South Main Street (Route 25) in Newtown. The public is invited to attend, free of charge, to view the works and meet the artist.

For directions and hours, visit KoenigFrameworks.com or call 270-1887.
