At Textile & Tag Sale

MONROE — Monroe Historical Society will present its fall textile and tag sale on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, at The Eliot Beardsley House, 31 Great Ring Road. Angie Valentino and Louise Wishneski are co-chairing the event.

The sale will run from 9 am to 4 pm on Saturday, with an early bird entry at 8 am of $5, and then from 11 am to 4 pm on Sunday.

Profits from the sale will be used towards the restoration of the exterior of Beardsley House.

In addition to the vendors all weekend, story teller Sue Selk will share some of Monroe’s folklore on Sunday between 2 to 4 pm.

Also Hanna Hovey, who lived in Monroe in the early 1800s and is known in the area as Hanna Cranna, the witch of old Monroe, will be there in spirit around 2 on Sunday. Groups wishing to attend should make reservations by calling Nancy Zorena at 261-8554. Space is limited.

The weekend event is one of the historical society’s annual fundraisers. For additional information contact Ms Zorena.
