Chamber Slates Open House, Annual âDestinationâ Networking Events
Jean Leonard of Ameriprise Financial will be hosting an open house for the Chamber of Commerce of Newtown, on Wednesday, October 21, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, at 20 Nunnawauk Road.
There will be a networking reception where chamber members can enjoy chocolate martinis and light appetizers while meeting with the Ameriprise staff and learning more about the companyâs comprehensive financial planning services.

In other chamber news, the sixth annual Destination Newtown, the communityâs only business-oriented annual exposition, is set for Tuesday, November 10, from 4 to 7 pm, at the Newtown Congregational Church at 14 West Street.
Destination Newtown is an opportunity for Chamber of Commerce members to meet and network with other businesses and the Newtown community. Themed âPassion for Business: Spearheading Growth in Newtown,â the event is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Newtown and sponsored by Newtown Savings Bank. It is open to the public.
The 2009 Taste of Newtown will feature My Place Restaurant, Tambascioâs, Blue Colony Diner, and Francoâs Pizza, to name a few. A souvenir program book will be distributed around town a week prior the event, as well as at the event.
The program book will include interesting facts about Newtown and trivia questions, along with information on how to win the Taste of Newtown sampler platter raffle. Additional highlights include entertainment from the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission, flu shots from the Newtown VNA, tours of the Amazing Fun Bus, raffles, and more.
New this year, is an exclusive VIP Networking Reception beginning at 2:45 pm before the expo opens at 4. The reception, open to Chamber of Commerce members only, will feature keynote speaker John R. Rathgeber, president of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association, who will discuss âSecuring a Brighter Future for Connecticut.âÂ
Sponsored by Newtown Deli & Catering, appetizers and refreshments are available for attendees to enjoy while networking. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will conclude the reception and open the Expo floor.
Destination Newtown is open to the community and is free of charge. Attendees are invited to explore booths, enjoy food donated by local restaurants, and meet owners and employees of the best businesses in town.Â
