Police report that at about 10 am on October 12, a case containing several audio books in the CD format was found on Oakview Road, near Newtown High School. The audio books include titles by Jack London and Tom Clancy.

Police ask that the owner claim the found items at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

Berkshire Collision

About 4:13 pm October 12, motorist Anthony Dinice, 82, of Shelton, who was driving a 2004 Ford Freestar minivan eastward on Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Gray’s Plain Road, stopped for traffic conditions, after which the Ford was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Mary Wheelis, 51, of Guilford, who was driving a 1998 Subaru Legacy station wagon, police said.

The Ford carried three passengers and the Subaru carried one passenger. None of those involved in the accident was injured, police said. Sandy Hook firefighters responded to the scene.

Police said they issued Wheelis a written warning for following too closely.
