A Powerful Reminder

To the Editor:

My wife and I were both moved by the fine article by Nancy Crevier about the late Lieutenant Thomas Carney [“Late State Trooper From Newtown Memorialized,” 10/9/09]. His family, and Adrian Stroud, who directed the efforts which culminated in the naming of the bridge after Lt Carney, have our gratitude, and I’m sure the gratitude of every Newtown resident.

We will be reminded of Lt Carney’s dedication to his community and state every time we drive across that bridge. Although we never knew Lt Carney, we are grateful for his sacrifice in the line of duty, and it’s a powerful reminder of the outstanding service of all uniformed officers who are dedicated to our safety and security.
