All paces require approved protective headgear (safety helmets) and suitable riding footwear (boot with heel). There will be four divisions (hunt, pleasure or hacking, junior and western) and all paces will be held rain or shine. Western teams must have at least one western rider and junior teams must have at least one junior rider. All fences will have go-arounds and all paces will award ribbons for first through 10th place. Riders can accumulate points towards series awards.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29 â The Newtown Bridle Lands Association will hold its annual Pumpkin Pace on Sunday, October 29, from 8 am to 12 noon, on Mount Nebo Road. Hard hats are required (no exceptions) and horse must be in good physical condition (NBLA officials have the authority to disqualify any animal that is in distress). SUNDAY, OCTOBER 22 â The Rombout Hunt, Inc., Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, October 22, at 10 am, at Gone Away Farm on Browning Road in Hyde Park, New York. All fences (a combination of fences, chicken coops, barways and stone walls) have go-arounds. There will be a separate division for juniors. Hunting attire with hard hats is required. Luncheon is included. Cost is $35 for adjacent hunts members, $70 for non-members, and $20 for juniors. Call Joan Cohen at 1-845-297-6182 for further information.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29 â The Windy Hollow Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, October 29, from 10 am to 1 pm, at Hunts End Farm on Wolfpit Road in Sussex, New Jersey. Cost is $35 for adjacent hunts members, $5 for all others, and $25 for juniors. There will be prizes awarded in junior and adult divisions. Appropriate attire and protective gear required. NOVEMBER 5: The Woodbury FFA, sponsored by the Woodbury FFA Alumni and Parent Support Group, will hold its annual Hunter Pace on Sunday, November 5, at Logue Farms in Woodbury. The event is open to teams of riders on horseback and is designed to simulate a traditional foxhunt. The course features an eight- to 10-mile cross-country trail that traverses natural terrain, wooded trails, and farmland. All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Woodbury FFA, the national agricultural youth leadership organization association with the Agri-Science program at Nonnewaug High School, and will go towards student scholarship funds and to help provide financial assistance to students competing at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. The event will feature a slower (Hack) and faster (Hunt) division that will further be divided into junior and senior sections, if entries warrant. OCTOBER 22: The Bucky Ballard Fall Field Day, sponsored by the Northwest Connecticut Draft Horse Association, Inc., will be held Sunday, October 22, from 10 am to 3 pm, at White Hollow Farm in Lakeville. There will be plowing, harrowing, log skidding and corn binding demonstrations. At 12 noon there will be a horse shoeing demo and at 1 pm there will be a harnessing demo. Admission is $2 for adults with children under 12 free. Free hay rides and refreshments also will be available. Call 1-860-567-8607 for further information.
NOVEMBER 4: A 30th anniversary presentation of the world famous Lipizzaner Stallions will be held Saturday, November 4, at 2 pm and 7:30 pm, at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, New York. The Lipizzaner Stallion goes back more than 400 years and is now preserved through this equestrian work of art. Adults are $16.50 while children (12 and under) and seniors (60 and over) are $14.50.
