On Tuesday, October 22, The Garden Club of Newtown will host Becky Osborne of Appleberry Farm in Sandy Hook to discuss the subject of growing dahlias.

Osborne is the crop manager of the farm, as well as the head designer at Appleberry Floral Design. For the past five years, she and her sister Kate have been building a floral farm and design business on their property in Sandy Hook.

The sisters are the fourth generation from their family to work this land, and they specialize in growing unique farm fresh flowers and providing floral designs that range from traditional to whimsical, using their beautiful blooms. They are members of the Connecticut Flower Collective and from April to December they pride themselves for providing foam-free designs using only locally sourced flowers and greens.

The program will be held in the community room of C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street. It will begin at 1 pm.

The public is welcome, and there is no charge for attending the program.
