How would you describe your occupation? As operations manager of Edmond Town Hall I manage the building and grounds as a whole — preventative maintenance, upgrades, oversee the operations staff, and make sure the equipment is operating for events, shows, and movies.
Who is in your family? I’m married and I have two kids — a son that’s in college and one that’s in high school.
Do you have any pets? I have two dogs and a cat.
How long have you worked in Newtown? It is going on my fifth month. I’m from New Milford. I’ve lived in Connecticut for almost 26 years now.
What do you like to do in your free time? My trade and school background is in hospitality, so I enjoy cooking and I’m a fan of wine. I play golf too; it’s one of my favorite things. My high school kid keeps me very busy outside of that — he’s in the marching band.
Who is your favorite author? Nicholas Sparks. He wrote this one book about a firefighter and his wife and the trials and tribulations they go through. I was a volunteer EMT and a firefighter in the town of New Milford for almost 22 years, so I relate.
Who or what has been the greatest influence of your life? I come from a very large family. My sister, ten years older than me, was a huge influence. She is director of operations for a company. She pushed me to work at a cruise line when I graduated college to get experience and travel the world. Honestly, she is probably my biggest influence.
If you could spend the day with anyone, who would you choose and why? My grandfather. I knew him until the age of five or six. He is from Italy and he had traditions he brought over. Just to be able to know it as an adult now versus being five and to absorb that in would be awesome.
Who is your favorite musical artist? Kane Brown.
What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever been given? Listen. That’s it. Through my years, I’ve grown as a manager. I listen to what other people have to say. Whether it is an employee, somebody from the town, or just somebody offering advice — take it, go with it, and process it. It doesn’t matter what time or where you are, just listen to that person. Somewhere or another, they’ve got a story to tell.
What is something you can’t live without? Chinese food. I can’t have it anymore because I have celiac, but it was my go-to.
What is your proudest accomplishment? My kids. My oldest is pursuing a career in the medical field. He’s 18 and became an EMT over a year ago. I don’t know if he understands how proud that makes me. It’s the same thing with my younger son. He was a music-lover from day one, and then we just steered him in the right direction with drum lessons. He’s loving it. I feel like these guys are going to excel in whatever they want to do.
What is your favorite travel destination? Kiawah Island and Charleston, South Carolina.
What is the best part of Newtown? I like the friendliness. From day one, everyone has been welcoming. It’s a big town, but it’s got that small town feel I like.
