Leslie V. Konneker, 66, of Newtown, died October 14 at home, surrounded by her loved ones and with a cat on her lap. She was the wife of Gregory P. Konneker. Ms Konneker was born January 31, 1947, in Bronxville, N.Y., a daughter of Irene (Vaughan) and Charles Towson. She grew up in the White Plains, N.Y., area.

In addition to her husband, her son Adam Gregory Konneker, her daughter Alexandra Vaughan Konneker, her sister Irene Koehnken, and her brother Ray S. Towson survive Ms Konneker.

Professionally, she earned a BA from Pace University in White Plains and worked for AT&T and General Foods. It was while working at General Foods she met her husband and moved to Danbury. After the birth of their children, the family established a home in Newtown, where she resided until her death.

Ms Konneker had a fine sense of color and style that she directed into her interior design business, allowing her to spend time with her children and support them in their many sporting and social activities. After Adam and Alex left home, she worked at a couple of veterinary clinics, which was a natural fit with her lifelong love of animals.

She was active in the Newtown schools, her church, and other organizations. Her warmth, love of life, and bubbling personality led to many close friendships, which were very important to her.

Some of her favorite activities included camping on Lake George in New York, skiing on Okemo Mountain in Ludlow, Vt., and exploring any beach. At home, she enjoyed the outdoors through walking, jogging, kayaking, and attending her children’s sporting activities.

Her spark and laughter will be sadly missed by her large circle of family and friends.

Calling hours will take place Thursday, October 17, at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, from 5 to 8 pm. Cremation will be private. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 19, at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main Street, Newtown, at 1 pm. In accordance with her wishes, Ms Konneker’s ashes will be scattered on one of her favorite mountain tops.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to either the ASPCA at www.aspca.org, or the American Cancer Society at  www.cancer.org.
