Letters Of Endorsement

To the Editor:

Over the past few months there have been many letters on these pages talking about the incredible work Chris Lyddy has done in his first term, and highlighting the reasons people are supporting his re-election. I wasn’t planning to write one.

But there are a few things about Chris that I’d really like people to know. Chris isn’t someone who grew up always wanting to be a “politician.” He’s someone who always wanted to make a difference. Throughout his life, Chris has been making a difference here in Newtown, whether it was at Newtown Youth Services, in Parent Connection, or on the Legislative Council.

Now, as our state representative, Chris continues to make a difference. It isn’t just the legislation he’s worked on, it’s more than that. When people are struggling to find insurance coverage, Chris helps them find it. When someone is faced with foreclosure, Chris helps them navigate the system. When someone is in need of an advocate, Chris is quick to pick up the phone and make a call on their behalf. When people are struggling, facing difficulties, and in need of help, they turn to Representative Lyddy and he is there to help.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that I’m supporting my son Chris Lyddy as he seeks reelection. Like so many here in Newtown, I’m proud of the work he’s done in his first term. But I’m also proud of the person he is, a dedicated, caring, down-to-earth, hardworking, energetic young man who has always gone out of his way to make a difference in peoples’ lives. It’s what he’s done here in Newtown, what he did in his first term, and, with your vote, what he’ll continue to do in Hartford.

Best wishes,

Sally Lyddy
